Houthis Claim Capture of Strategic Perim Island, Intensify Attacks

Houthi fighters have claimed the capture of the strategically important Perim Island, located in the Bab-el-Mandeb strait. The group also released video footage purporting to show intense attacks on Yemeni government forces in and around the coastal city of Mokha. According to Houthi claims, the attacks resulted in the destruction of dozens of military vehicles and the seizure of a large quantity of military equipment.

Yemeni armed forces have intensified their operations, announcing that warplanes conducted three airstrikes on Houthi positions on the Dhubab front in Taiz. According to military sources, a broader operation began on Friday, with over 20 airstrikes targeting Houthi gatherings, missile launch pads, and communication systems in several areas of Al-Bayda province.

In response, the Houthi group claimed that Saudi-led coalition warplanes carried out 129 airstrikes across seven provinces within 48 hours. The Houthis threatened retaliation and subsequently launched attacks into southern Saudi Arabia.

Saudi officials confirmed a rocket fired from Yemen landed in the Jazan region, injuring two people and damaging a mosque and several buildings. Separately, Houthi spokesman Yahya Saree claimed responsibility for drone and ballistic missile attacks on Sharurah airport in southern Saudi Arabia, targeting what he described as weapons depots and control centers.
