Sargodha rape suspect dies; youth abducted in Kasur family dispute
The main suspect in a student gang-rape case in Sargodha died in hospital from injuries sustained during a police encounter, authorities confirmed Saturday. Five other suspects, also injured in the encounter, were arrested and are currently under treatment. The group allegedly abducted and assaulted the student 20 days ago.
In a separate incident in Kasur, a young man was assaulted and abducted near the Kamal Chishti shrine. Police successfully recovered the victim from Rasul Nagar and have registered a case against the alleged kidnappers.
According to police, the abduction is linked to a family dispute involving the shrine’s custodian, who has two wives. The victim is the son of the first wife. His abduction was reportedly in retaliation for an assault a day earlier on the second wife’s son, allegedly carried out by the first wife’s brothers.
