PM Shehbaz Accuses India of Covert Tactics During Karachi Visit

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif arrived in Karachi on Saturday for a one-day visit, where he attended the passing out parade at the Pakistan Naval Academy. He was welcomed by Sindh Governor Nehal Hashmi and Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah. Defence Minister Khawaja Asif was also in attendance.

Addressing the ceremony, the prime minister accused India of resorting to “covert tactics and the use of proxies” to disrupt peace in Pakistan. “Our eastern neighbour, having suffered a humiliating conflict in May last year, has increasingly resorted to covert tactics and the use of proxies in an attempt to undermine the hard-earned peace and stability in our country,” he stated.

The prime minister also noted that Pakistan’s armed forces are confronting “foreign-sponsored terrorism emanating from our western borders.” He affirmed that the nation stands with its military and is resolute in its commitment to peace and diplomacy to resolve disputes. He also reiterated Pakistan’s support for the people of Kashmir, Gaza, and Palestine.

Speaking to the graduating cadets, PM Shehbaz said they were joining the navy at a time of significant technological change, with the force embracing artificial intelligence and unmanned systems. He urged them to remain steadfast in the values of commitment, courage, and integrity, reminding them that “it is the rough seas and strong winds that test one’s mettle.”

During the ceremony at the PNS Rahbar, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also congratulated foreign cadets who were part of the passing out parade.

The ceremony on Saturday marked the passing out of the 125th Midshipmen course. During the event, the Prime Minister reviewed the cadets on parade. The Chief of Defence Forces Gold Medal was also awarded to a distinguished cadet.
