In a briefing on Lahore's traffic situation, officials informed Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz that 4,096 traffic permits had been issued to individuals under the age of 18. Additionally, it was reported that 65,000 'Pink Buttons' have been installed at various locations to enhance safety for women.
During the meeting, it was agreed to implement digital monitoring of zebra crossings using cameras, with a pilot project to begin on Mall Road. The chief minister also directed that freight tractor-trolleys, including those for the 'Suthra Punjab' program, must be covered while on the roads. A directive was issued to take action against overloading before the start of the sugarcane season.
The chief minister expressed satisfaction with Lahore's improved traffic ranking in South Asia. A briefing during the meeting revealed that Lahore has moved from 149th to 29th in the Numbeo Global Traffic Ranking Index. It was also reported that traffic congestion has been reduced by up to 70% in several key areas, including Jati Umra Chowk, Pine Avenue, and Defence Mor.
Further instructions included declaring Ferozepur Road a model road and installing traffic signals at Pine Avenue and Jati Umra Chowk to improve traffic flow.
