In a recent address in Skardu, Pakistan People’s Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari pledged to secure constitutional and economic rights for Gilgit-Baltistan, similar to those granted to provinces under the 18th Amendment. He emphasized that empowering the region’s citizens is crucial for national progress.

Highlighting Pakistan’s defence capabilities, he credited Zulfikar Ali Bhutto with initiating the nuclear programme and Benazir Bhutto with advancing the missile programme, stating the nuclear deterrent prevents foreign aggression. Zardari also claimed foreign military bases present during Pervez Musharraf’s tenure were closed under Asif Ali Zardari’s presidency. He vowed to protect and expand the Benazir Income Support Programme and touted a major housing initiative in Sindh for flood-affected families.
