PML-N supremo and former prime minister Nawaz Sharif is scheduled to visit Gilgit-Baltistan on Tuesday for a one-day trip to meet with party ticket holders ahead of the June 7 elections. The visit marks a rare political engagement for Sharif, who has not been active since the February 2024 general elections.

Meanwhile, the PTI has alleged “systematic pre-poll rigging and state-backed repression” are underway. In a statement, the party accused the federal government, state institutions, and local administration of attempting to influence the electoral process. The PTI also raised serious concerns about the impartiality of the GB Election Commission, claiming the ruling PML-N is violating the electoral code of conduct while its own lawmakers are being prevented from entering the region.
