A joint clearance operation by security forces in Balochistan’s Ziarat district has resulted in the martyrdom of nine police personnel and the killing of 15 terrorists. The operation, conducted in the Kuch Mangi Phase-III area, followed a terrorist attack on police.
Balochistan Chief Minister’s spokesperson, Shahid Rind, confirmed that the operation was a joint effort by the Frontier Corps (FC), Balochistan Police, the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD), the Special Operations Wing, and the Anti-Terrorism Force (ATF). Its objectives included clearing the area of terrorists and locating police personnel who went missing after the initial attack.
Among those martyred were the station house officers (SHOs) of Mangi and Kawas police stations, and ATF in-charge Head Constable Saifullah. Their bodies have been moved to the District Headquarters Hospital in Ziarat for legal formalities.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Ghulam Sarwar and eight other police personnel, along with Constable Rizwan, who were missing after the attack, safely reached Kach Police Station after navigating difficult mountainous terrain.
Mr. Rind reiterated the Balochistan government’s commitment to continuing anti-terror operations until militancy is completely eradicated from the province. Heavy exchanges of fire between terrorists and police had been ongoing in the Mangi area since Sunday night before security forces concluded the operation.

Latest Updates
The recent surge in terrorist violence in Balochistan highlights a renewed threat confronting Pakistan. Following the martyrdom of nine police personnel in Ziarat, two alleged Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) operatives were arrested in Karachi on Tuesday. This development was preceded by deadly violence near Quetta a day earlier.
These incidents indicate that terrorist groups maintain the capability and intent to challenge the state. Concerns are rising that militancy is no longer confined to remote districts, with urban centers like Karachi potentially becoming targets. The state’s counterterrorism strategy requires anticipating a broader geographical spread of violence and enhanced intelligence coordination.
