The meeting on Wednesday took place against a backdrop of recent security incidents in the province. In the week prior, a main gas pipeline was blown up by unidentified attackers in the Bolan area of Kacchi district. In July, attackers destroyed two 220kV transmission pylons and damaged two others near the Uch Power Plant in Dera Murad Jamali, disrupting power supply to several parts of Balochistan.
Meanwhile, security forces have conducted several recent operations against militants. According to reports, nine terrorists were killed in intelligence-based operations (IBOs) in the Ziarat, Harnai, and Surab areas. Earlier operations in the Killi Zaik and Kharan areas also resulted in the elimination of several terrorists.
