In a recent statement, US Senator Marco Rubio reiterated his position that no tolls should be imposed on international sea lanes, specifically directing his message towards both Iran and Lebanon.

The statements from US officials followed a joint announcement from Oman and Iran earlier in the week, which indicated both sides are reviewing the future management of the Strait of Hormuz and the possibility of introducing service-related fees for passage.

Speaking in Abu Dhabi, US official Marco Rubio reiterated that the strait is an international waterway and imposing charges would violate international law. According to reports, his visit was to consult with Gulf allies on the emerging Iran-US agreement. Rubio added that regional stability cannot be achieved while Iranian-linked proxy groups continue attacks in neighbouring countries.
