Iran Strikes US in Syria, Kuwait Amid Escalating Tensions

Tensions between Iran and the United States have escalated significantly, with both nations exchanging attacks. The US has targeted over ten Iranian locations, including Bandar Abbas and Qeshm Island, claiming the destruction of Iranian command centers, air defense systems, surveillance facilities, coastal defense systems, and missile launchers. These operations aim to neutralize Iranian naval capabilities in the Strait of Hormuz. Reports indicate that these US attacks have resulted in casualties, with some sources claiming 35 Iranian soldiers killed and over 300 injured. Civilian areas have also been affected; Russian media reported three civilians killed in Chabahar, and Iranian media stated seven civilians were killed and three injured in a US attack on a Bandar Khamir bridge in Hormozgan province. Explosions were heard in Ahvaz, with Russian media reporting a missile hit near a hospital, leading to the evacuation of children from a nursery. Residential areas, communication towers, and a railway junction in Bandar Abbas were also reportedly targeted, along with Iranshahr Airport and important connecting bridges near Bandar Abbas. In retaliation, Iran has attacked US targets in Bahrain, Kuwait, and Jordan. Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has warned that continued US attacks could spread the conflict to new fronts. Iranian officials have stated that residential areas were damaged, civilians affected, and many injured are in critical condition. The White House spokesperson, Karoline Leavitt, commented that recent attacks on Iran were in response to violations of agreements. She noted that Iran remains in contact with the US, but cannot stop US actions now. Leavitt also indicated division within the Iranian leadership and President Trump's readiness for a diplomatic solution. Separately, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ismail Baghaei criticized the US and Israel for opposing counter-terrorism resolutions, describing their stance as "self-defeating." Meanwhile, Tehran has witnessed fresh anti-US protests alongside government support rallies.

Recently, at least eight people were killed and 20 others injured in overnight US airstrikes on infrastructure in southern and western Iran, with Iranian state media reporting multiple sites hit, including six bridges in Hormozgan Province. In response, Iran launched fresh attacks on US military facilities across the Gulf region, marking the sixth consecutive night of American strikes. Iran claimed it targeted US military infrastructure in Kuwait, using drones on what it described as US troop deployment sites and logistical support centres. Additionally, Iran launched an attack on US installations in Syria. Tehran stated these operations were in retaliation for US actions and those killed in recent attacks. The US military confirmed it carried out another night of operations aimed at degrading Iran’s capabilities, targeting military-related facilities on Qeshm Island and near Bandar Abbas. Iran has also accused the United States of targeting civilian infrastructure, including an airport, a railway station, and bridges. There has been no immediate confirmation from US or Kuwaiti authorities regarding Iran’s claims of attacks on American military facilities in Kuwait, and the reported claims from both sides could not be independently verified.
