Tehran Claims Shooting Down US Drone Amid Ongoing Strikes

Amidst the eleventh consecutive day of US military strikes on Iran, Tehran has claimed to have shot down a US drone. This claim comes as explosions were reported in various Iranian cities and air defense systems remained active in the capital.

The United States military has reportedly launched a fresh attack on an Iranian island, potentially leading to a new crisis in the Gulf region.

Iran has released a video showing alleged strikes on US targets. Separately, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has claimed responsibility for attacks on US military bases. An Iranian school was also reportedly hit in an attack, resulting in casualties and significant damage, which has raised concerns about the safety of civilians and children.

Iran has reportedly "struck back" amidst the ongoing conflict, while the United States continues to target new sites within Iran. Separately, a leaked report has raised concerns over U.S. missile stocks, adding another dimension to the escalating situation.

The United States has continued its military strikes against Iran for an eleventh consecutive night, triggering air defences in Tehran. US military officials stated that the latest attacks targeted military logistics infrastructure, while Iranian state media reported strikes around the country, including near Bushehr, which hosts a nuclear power plant. Air defence activity was heard in the west, east, and northeast of Tehran.

President Donald Trump warned he was “not finished” with the conflict, which has reportedly cost the US $37.5 billion. Trump also indicated that the next US target could be Pickaxe Mountain, a subterranean nuclear site near Natanz. In response, Iran’s Khatam Al-Anbiya military command threatened reprisals, stating that such an attack would be considered an “expansion of war in the region” and threatening strikes on “all the interests of America, the allies and supporters.”

The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) has announced the completion of its eleventh consecutive evening of strikes against Iran. Meanwhile, Iran's military has claimed responsibility for its 21st wave of attacks, reportedly targeting the Al Doha Camp in Kuwait, a significant US military installation. These drone strikes are said to have hit US weapons storage facilities and logistics equipment supporting the Army command center at the camp, situated west of Kuwait City. In a related development, the United Kingdom has granted permission for the United States to use its military bases for attacks against Iran. Separately, reports indicate that loud explosions have been heard across Iran.

Oil prices saw a slight increase on Wednesday, with Brent crude futures rising 0.55% to $91.51 and U.S. West Texas Intermediate climbing 0.36% to $84.64. This rise is attributed to the escalating military strikes between the U.S. and Iran, alongside threats from Houthi forces.

Kuwait has reported intercepting Iranian drones. The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) specified that its latest strikes targeted Iranian military operations centers, maritime capabilities, aircraft hangars, drone storage facilities, and military logistics infrastructure. CENTCOM also stated that Iran has attacked over 30 commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz in the past three months, which has endangered mariners and undermined freedom of navigation. The U.S. military has facilitated the transit of approximately 900 vessels through the Strait of Hormuz since early May, enabling the passage of 450 million barrels of crude.

Separately, U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth announced that the conflict in Iran has cost the U.S. $37.5 billion to date, an increase of nearly $8 billion since the last public estimate. Yemen’s Iran-aligned Houthis have also threatened to target vessels carrying Saudi oil in the Bab el-Mandeb Strait and declared a naval blockade of Saudi Arabia. The Bab el-Mandeb waterway has become a more crucial route for Saudi crude exports as traffic through the Strait of Hormuz has significantly decreased since a ceasefire between the U.S. and Iran collapsed earlier this month.
