The death toll from the tuition centre roof collapse in Lahore’s Kahna area has risen to 14 children. Following the incident, Lahore police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) against the owners of the building and a construction worker.

The case was filed under sections 322 (manslaughter) and 337-H (hurt by rash or negligent act) of the Pakistan Penal Code. According to the FIR, the collapse was allegedly caused by extra load when soil was being poured onto the roof of the already dilapidated structure. Police have taken at least two individuals into custody as part of the investigation.

In the aftermath of the tragedy, the Kahna area is in mourning, with reports of local markets being closed. Funerals for 11 of the deceased children have reportedly taken place.
