Small Aircraft Crashes into Beijing’s Tallest Building, CITIC Tower
A small aircraft, described by an eyewitness as being about the size of a car, crashed into Beijing’s tallest building, the CITIC Tower, on Friday.
The 108-storey skyscraper, also known as China Zun, is located in the city’s central business district and is the headquarters of the state-owned conglomerate CITIC Group.
A bystander reported hearing a loud crash, described as “louder than fireworks,” around 6 p.m. local time. Reports from the scene indicate that two glass panels on a high floor of the building were damaged. One witness claimed to have seen the aircraft sticking out of the building, while another mentioned seeing unverified social media images of wreckage on a nearby road.
Following the incident, a heavy police presence was established, with dozens of police cars and several fire trucks at the location. Some approach roads were closed, and police were seen preventing people from filming the scene, asking some to delete their pictures.
There was no immediate official comment on the crash or any potential casualties. Pakistan News will update this story as more confirmed details become available.
