PTI leaders have rejected a government statement regarding the prison conditions of founder Imran Khan, terming the official claims as “misleading, fabricated and incorrect.”
The response came after the Ministry of Information issued a detailed statement, sent to the foreign press, asserting that Mr. Khan was not in “punitive solitary confinement” and had access to amenities including visits, phone calls, and home-cooked meals in a “seven-cell compound.”
Speaking at a press conference, PTI Secretary General Salman Akram Raja countered the government's claims. He stated that an Islamabad High Court judgment from March 2025, which allowed for bi-weekly family meetings, was not being implemented. He added that meetings with lawyers were also not permitted despite court orders.
Mr. Raja also alleged that a Supreme Court order to shift Imran Khan to Shifa International Hospital had not been implemented.
In his latest remarks on Monday, lawyer Salman Akram Raja claimed that security around PTI founder Imran Khan's jail room has been significantly increased, with the area now "surrounded".
