Russia Warns US and Israel Against Repeating “Past Mistakes” on Iran

Russia has issued a stern warning to the United States and Israel, cautioning them against launching any new military attacks on Iran. The statement underscores escalating tensions in the region following recent direct confrontations between Iran and Israel.

Mikhail Ulyanov, Russia’s permanent representative to international organizations in Vienna, asserted that such an action would demonstrate that both Washington and Tel Aviv have failed to learn from their past mistakes. His comments came as a direct reaction to media reports, specifically from The New York Times, suggesting that the US and Israel were preparing for new strikes against Iranian targets.

Ulyanov’s remarks highlight Moscow’s position amidst the volatile situation, signaling its opposition to further military escalation that could destabilize the broader Middle East. The warning reflects Russia’s ongoing diplomatic alignment with Iran on several international issues.

In addition to the warning, Ulyanov also voiced his complete support for the Chinese Foreign Minister’s proposal for a comprehensive ceasefire. He endorsed the call for a total cessation of hostilities as a necessary step to reopen the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz to maritime navigation.
