Rain in Punjab Breaks Heatwave, Causes Urban Flooding and Power Outages
Rain in Lahore and other cities across Punjab on Thursday brought relief from a recent spell of intense heat, but also caused disruptions. In Lahore, light rain and dark clouds in areas including Abbot Road and Model Road made the weather pleasant. The meteorological department recorded the city’s temperature at 31°C.
However, heavy downpours in Gujrat, Jhelum, and other cities led to urban flooding in low-lying areas. Reports indicated that numerous electricity feeders tripped, resulting in power supply disruptions to several areas.
The Met Department has also forecast more rain in other parts of the country. Expected areas include:
- Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: Upper Dir, Swat, Kohistan, and Waziristan.
- Balochistan: Khuzdar, Kohlu, and Barkhan.
