The Punjab government has announced an expansion of its “Apni Chhat Apna Ghar” programme, with plans to provide interest-free housing loans to an additional 100,000 families during the next fiscal year. The decision was detailed in a meeting chaired by Punjab Minister for Housing and Urban Development, Bilal Yasin.
According to the minister, 170,000 families have already received interest-free loans under the scheme. The expanded programme will continue to offer loans ranging from Rs 500,000 to Rs 1 million through an e-portal. These funds can be used for constructing a new portion of a house, conducting repairs, or building a roof.
Bilal Yasin stated that the initiative targets low-income and homeless families in both urban and rural areas. He added that the scheme is expected to stimulate construction activity, create new employment opportunities, and contribute to economic growth in the province.
