Karachi is facing an acute water crisis as residents celebrate Eid ul Adha, with many areas experiencing dry taps for weeks. The severe shortage has forced citizens across the metropolis, from upscale localities to low-income neighbourhoods, to rely on expensive private water tankers for sanitation, household needs, and the care of sacrificial animals, with tanker prices reportedly doubling.

The Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KWSC) has blamed frequent power breakdowns for damaging main supply lines, though its chief executive stated that measures were in place to ensure supply during the Eid holidays. The crisis follows two months of disruptions caused by line bursts and damage to key pumping stations, leaving residents frustrated during a period of peak demand.
