PM Shehbaz Sharif Says Pakistan Helped Broker US-Iran Agreement

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif affirmed Pakistan’s commitment to regional and global peace while addressing a graduation ceremony at the Pakistan Naval Academy in Karachi on Saturday.

Speaking at the passing out parade of the 125th Midshipmen and 33rd Short Service Commission Course, the prime minister highlighted Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts in reducing tensions between the United States and Iran. He said these efforts led to the signing of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding, which he signed as a mediator.

The prime minister paid tribute to Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir for his efforts in the mediation process. He added that the recent visit of Iranian President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian was an acknowledgement of Pakistan’s role in promoting regional peace.

While congratulating the newly commissioned officers, he expressed the government’s commitment to modernising and strengthening the Pakistan Navy to ensure the country’s maritime defence.
