Officials stated the adjustments were made to balance fiscal requirements while passing on partial relief from declining global oil prices.

In a related development, the price of jet fuel was significantly reduced by Rs 56.97, bringing the new price to Rs 238.87 per litre, a move that is expected to lead to a reduction in airfares.
