Pakistan to Arrest Afghan Nationals Without Valid Visas from July 10
The Ministry of Interior has issued a directive to arrest any Afghan national found residing in Pakistan without a valid visa, with the order taking effect from July 10, 2026.
In a notification issued on Sunday, June 28, the ministry addressed the chief secretaries of all provinces, Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and the chief commissioner of the Islamabad Capital Territory. The directive follows decisions made during a June 1 review meeting on the Illegal Foreigners’ Repatriation Plan (IFRP), which called for expediting the repatriation of Afghan nationals, including those who have overstayed their visas.
The notification instructs all deputy commissioners, district administrations, police, and other law enforcement agencies to ensure “uniform and effective implementation” of the directive.
Furthermore, the ministry has requested a daily report commencing July 11, 2026, detailing the number of Afghan nationals found without valid visas, the action taken against them, and their current status. The directive emphasized that the matter be accorded “top priority”.
This measure is part of a broader deportation drive that began in 2023. Last year, a Senate committee was informed that Pakistan had deported a total of 1,155,221 Afghan nationals.
