Pakistan Rejects Indian Criticism of Strikes Along Afghan Border

Pakistan News Desk1 week ago

Pakistan on Wednesday rejected India’s criticism of recent counterterrorism operations along the Afghanistan border, with the Foreign Office describing New Delhi’s comments as “absurd and baseless.”

In a statement, Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Andrabi asserted that the strikes were “lawful, precise, and proportionate.” He said India had no grounds to question Pakistan’s actions, accusing New Delhi of a history of interfering in neighbouring countries’ affairs in violation of the UN Charter.

The spokesperson also alleged that India has supported militant groups operating from Afghan territory against Pakistan and has played a destabilising role in the region.

The statement followed a security operation conducted by Pakistani forces on Sunday night. According to officials, an intelligence-led ground action, supported by targeted strikes on militant safe havens, resulted in the elimination of 25 terrorists. The operation was launched after militants attacked a Pakistan Rangers headquarters in Karachi’s Gulistan-e-Jauhar, where three security personnel lost their lives.

Following the strikes, India’s Ministry of External Affairs had condemned Pakistan’s military action, labelling it an “act of aggression” that posed risks to regional peace.

Mr. Andrabi affirmed that Pakistan would continue to take all necessary steps under international law to ensure the security of its citizens.
