Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, on Saturday, paid tributes to Major Tufail Muhammad Shaheed, recipient of Nishan-e-Haider, on the 68th anniversary of his martyrdom, lauding his sacrifice and bravery in defence of the motherland.
The Prime Minister said Major Tufail Shaheed had made the ultimate sacrifice for the country, etching an immortal chapter in Pakistan’s defence history. He added that the sacrifice and bravery of Major Tufail Muhammad Shaheed were a matter of pride for the entire nation and served as a shining example for generations to come.
“Our great sons of the soil are the staunch guardians of freedom, sovereignty and national security,” the PM Office Media Wing quoted the Prime Minister as saying. He further stated that the courage and bravery of Major Tufail Shaheed represented the determination, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to the motherland that the officers and soldiers of the Pakistan Armed Forces demonstrated. The Prime Minister concluded that the nation would never forget the sacrifices of its martyrs.

On August 7, 1958, Major Tufail Muhammad led an operation in the Lakshmipur sector. Despite sustaining severe injuries during the engagement, he continued to lead his troops, ultimately forcing the enemy to retreat and securing the area.
To commemorate the day, a ceremony was held at his mausoleum where a guard of honour was presented to pay tribute to his sacrifice.
