A group of 22 Iranian sailors, crew members of the tanker M/T Davina which was seized by the United States, arrived in Pakistan on Friday, June 26. Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar confirmed their arrival and stated that arrangements are being finalised with Iranian missions in Pakistan for their safe return to their homeland.

In a statement, Dar mentioned that Pakistan remained in close contact with both US and Iranian authorities throughout the process. This marks the fourth group of Iranian crew members whose repatriation has been facilitated by Pakistan in the last two months, bringing the total to over 70 individuals.

The seizures occurred during a period of conflict between the US and Iran, which began on February 28 and concluded with the signing of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding. During the conflict, US forces had imposed a naval blockade and were interdicting commercial vessels linked to Iran.
