Pakistan and EU Urge Adherence to Middle East Ceasefire
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar and the European Union’s foreign policy chief, Kaja Kallas, discussed the evolving situation in the Middle East in a phone call on Sunday. According to the Foreign Office, both leaders stressed the necessity of upholding the current ceasefire agreement and keeping communication channels open.
During the conversation, Ms. Kallas acknowledged Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts that contributed to the signing of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). However, she also voiced serious concern over recent violations of the ceasefire.
Mr. Dar briefed his EU counterpart on Pakistan’s continued diplomatic engagement aimed at establishing a comprehensive framework for peace and stability in the region. He reiterated the need for all parties to adhere to the ceasefire to prevent any further escalation.
Both sides agreed to remain in close contact as the situation develops.
