Pakistan and China Commemorate 75 Years of Diplomatic Ties
Pakistan and China are marking the 75th anniversary of the establishment of their diplomatic ties. To commemorate the occasion, Pakistan’s Parliament held special sessions, and it has been announced that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will visit China from May 23-26.
During the special parliamentary sessions, resolutions were passed reaffirming the “all-weather strategic cooperative partnership” and the brotherly relations based on mutual trust between the two nations. Pakistan also reiterated its firm commitment to the ‘One China’ principle and its support for China’s core interests.
During the prime minister’s visit, Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) worth over $5 billion are expected to be signed. It was also reported that the next phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, known as CPEC 2.0, will focus on industrialization, agriculture, and IT.

Addressing Parliament, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar emphasized that China has always supported Pakistan’s sovereignty and security. The Prime Minister’s visit to Beijing, previously announced for late May, is now scheduled to take place in June.

Both the Senate and National Assembly passed special resolutions to commemorate the Diamond Jubilee of diplomatic relations. The visiting Chinese parliamentary delegation was specifically from the National People’s Congress of China.

Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar announced that the second phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor has now begun. A high-level Chinese delegation also met with the Speaker of the National Assembly in Islamabad to discuss the strengthening of bilateral ties.
