According to the meteorological forecast, a westerly wave is combining with moisture from the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal. This is expected to produce monsoon rains accompanied by strong winds across the province in two phases:

  • July 1 to July 6: Rains are forecast for Lahore, Rawalpindi, Murree, Galyat, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Faisalabad, Khushab, Sargodha, Sheikhupura, and Narowal, with occasional breaks.
  • July 3 to July 6: Rains are predicted in Sahiwal, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Pakpattan, Nankana Sahib, Okara, Kasur, Noorpur Thal, Bhakkar, Layyah, Mianwali, Bahawalpur, Dera Ghazi Khan, Multan, Khanewal, and Lodhran.

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has warned of a risk of urban flooding in Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Lahore, and Faisalabad. The authority advised citizens to avoid open areas during lightning and to stay in safe places. Gusty winds could damage vulnerable infrastructure like electric poles, solar panels, and billboards.
