NCCIA Launches Inquiry Into Actress Momina Iqbal Harassment Case

Last Updated: 3 days ago

Actress Momina Iqbal has formally submitted digital evidence to the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) in her harassment complaint against Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Member of Punjab Assembly, Saqib Chadhar. The agency initiated an official inquiry after the actress made a public appeal on social media regarding the alleged threats.

According to details provided by Iqbal’s lawyer, the dispute stems from a personal matter. The MPA allegedly sent a formal marriage proposal to the actress in 2022, asking her to become his third wife. After discovering his marital status, Iqbal reportedly ceased contact. The harassment is said to have commenced after she announced her engagement to another person.

Both Momina Iqbal and MPA Saqib Chadhar have appeared before the NCCIA. The actress provided her statement to investigators over several hours. Her legal team has handed over digital evidence, including chat histories, digital records, and messages purported to be threatening, to the authorities for examination.

Previously, Iqbal had claimed on social media that she and her family were facing prolonged online harassment and death threats from the ruling party MPA. She alleged that her initial complaints to the FIA, Punjab Police, and NCCIA were ignored due to the accused’s political influence, and that formal action only began after her posts went viral. The NCCIA’s investigation team is currently reviewing the evidence. If the allegations of cyber harassment and threats are substantiated, the case will be forwarded to the police for criminal proceedings.
