The Ministry of Interior has approved a series of major reforms to the passport system, including a complete transition to e-passports aimed at eliminating fraud and forgery. In a significant move to improve citizen convenience, initial work for a passport home delivery service, both within Pakistan and for overseas nationals, has been completed and is expected to launch soon.

To further streamline the process and combat corruption, all passport offices nationwide will adopt a cashless system from July 1, accepting only digital payments. All online passport applications will also be migrated to NADRA’s central ‘Pak ID’ platform. Additionally, the Interior Minister has directed authorities to finalize a Business Passport Policy in consultation with the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to facilitate the business community.
