Mayor Karachi Murtaza Wahab Holds Major Press Conference

Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab announced that construction around Hill Park has been halted following public complaints, clarifying that the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) had not allotted or sold any land. The mayor stated he had ordered a KMC team to demolish any structures found on municipal land and that the corporation has formally requested police action against those responsible for the illegal construction.

In response, the opposition Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) has demanded a provincial inquiry, questioning how a No-Objection Certificate (NOC) was issued for the work. MQM-P leaders termed the incident an act of a ‘land grabbing mafia.’ The KMC maintains that a conditional NOC for a different plot was deliberately misinterpreted to justify the construction on park land.
