Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s Political Stance and Speeches

Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has threatened that he will not allow the National Assembly to function peacefully unless the “real results” of the recent elections are declared. Speaking at an event in Charsadda, he reiterated claims of widespread rigging against his party and questioned the legitimacy of the government. “Will Shehbaz Sharif rule on this election and I will accept it as legitimate?” he asked.

While stating that his party had supported the government on national issues like the conflict with India and the US-Iran mediation, he warned, “Give the real result of the election, otherwise I will not let you sit comfortably in the assembly.” The JUI-F chief also criticized the rulers for their lavish lifestyles while the poor suffer and called for resolving issues with Afghanistan through dialogue.
