Maulana Fazlur Rehman criticizes political situation and constitutional treatment

KARACHI – Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has warned that efforts to render the constitution and democracy meaningless are dangerous for the country, stating that the constitution has been turned into a “joke.”

Speaking during political meetings in Karachi, the Maulana called on all political forces to unite for the protection of the constitution, parliament, and the democratic process. He specifically vowed to safeguard the 18th Amendment and emphasized the need for a unified front to tackle the nation’s challenges.

Fazlur Rehman asserted that parliament must be strengthened and transformed into a “true representative of public opinion.” He reaffirmed his political approach of engaging with all parties to navigate the country through its current difficulties.

During his meetings, the JUI-F chief met with a delegation from the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP). In a gesture of goodwill, the PPP leaders presented a bouquet to Maulana Fazlur Rehman on behalf of their chairman, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.
