Love Marriage Sparks Tribal Feud; Over 150 Homes Torched

A couple’s marriage of their own free will in Hyderabad has triggered a violent tribal backlash in Jacobabad, Sindh, where armed men allegedly set fire to as many as 150 houses. The attack was reportedly carried out by men from the bride’s Channa tribe in retaliation against the groom’s Brohi tribe village. The couple has denied any abduction took place and has appealed to the Sindh High Court for protection. An First Information Report (FIR) has been registered under the Anti-Terrorism Act against dozens of individuals, and at least five suspects have been arrested in connection with the incident. The Chief Minister of Sindh has taken notice of the violence and has sought a report from regional police officials.
