Karachi Water Supply Disruption

Karachi’s severe two-month water crisis has been exacerbated by power failures at key pumping stations for three consecutive days. The latest disruption occurred Monday when a fault in a K-Electric main cable suspended supply from the Hub Pumping Station, creating a shortfall of 85 million gallons per day (MGD). This followed earlier power outages at the Dhabeji and North East Karachi pumping stations over the weekend. A K-Electric spokesperson later stated that power to the Hub station had been restored through alternative sources.
