Justice Munib Akhtar Takes Oath as Acting Chief Justice

Supreme Court’s senior puisne judge, Justice Munib Akhtar, has taken the oath as the Acting Chief Justice of Pakistan. He will perform the duties of the office while Chief Justice Yahya Afridi is abroad.
The oath was administered by Justice Muhammad Shafi Siddiqui in a simple and dignified ceremony held at the Supreme Court Branch Registry in Karachi. The event was attended by judges from the Supreme Court and the Federal Shariat Court, as well as senior court officers and staff.

Chief Justice of Pakistan Yahya Afridi is travelling abroad to represent Pakistan at the International Legal Forum. The event is scheduled to be held in Saint Petersburg, Russia, from June 24 to 26. During his absence, Justice Munib Akhtar will serve as the Acting Chief Justice.
