Following the approval of new appointment rules, the Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP) has formally invited nominations to fill 10 additional judge positions in the Lahore High Court, setting a submission deadline of July 4. The JCP is scheduled to convene from July 21 to 23 to evaluate candidates for high courts in Lahore, Sindh, and Balochistan, with recommendations for the Peshawar High Court also expected during this period. This marks the first implementation of the new process enabled by the 27th Constitutional Amendment.

A new seven-member panel has been established to interview prospective candidates, though its recommendations will not be binding on the full commission. The panel will comprise judicial, legislative, and executive representatives, including the Attorney General for Pakistan and nominees from parliament and the Pakistan Bar Council. In Lahore, Chief Justice Aalia Neelum has already initiated preliminary consultations with senior members of the legal fraternity.
