He accused the government of placing an unfair financial burden on the people through the petroleum levy and repeated fuel price increases. Zafar called for the abolition of the levy, a reduction in petroleum prices, and an end to what he described as preferential treatment for the IPP sector. He also criticized the country’s political and economic situation, asserting that ordinary citizens continued to suffer from inflation and unemployment while the political elite enjoyed privileges. Other JI leaders, including Opposition Leader in the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation Saifuddin Advocate, JI Karachi Secretary Toufiquddin Siddiqui, Sindh Assembly member Muhammad Farooq, and JI Deputy Secretary Abdul Razzaq Khan, also addressed the protesters.
The Sindh Government Spokesperson has reacted strongly to the ongoing Jamaat-e-Islami protests against inflation and rising prices of electricity and petroleum products.
