Iran’s Revolutionary Guards Claim Retaliatory Strikes on US Military Positions
Iran’s Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) announced on Saturday that it had targeted U.S. military positions in the region. The action was described as a response to a recent U.S. strike against Iran.
The IRGC did not provide any details regarding the specific U.S. positions that were targeted. The U.S. strike reportedly occurred after an attack on a cargo ship in the Strait of Hormuz.
Prior to the announcement, the semi-official ISNA news agency had published and later deleted a statement it attributed to the IRGC, which had warned that its response would be “swift and decisive.”
Pakistan News will update this story as more confirmed details become available.

US Central Command (CENTCOM) has provided further details on its strikes against Iranian targets on June 26, stating they were a response to an attack on a commercial ship a day earlier. According to CENTCOM, Iranian forces used a one-way attack drone to strike the M/V Ever Lovely, a Singapore-flagged cargo ship, on June 25 as it was exiting the Strait of Hormuz near the Omani coast.
In a statement, CENTCOM described the action against the commercial vessel as “unwarranted aggression” that “clearly violated the ceasefire” and undermined freedom of navigation. The US strikes targeted Iranian missile and drone storage locations as well as coastal radar sites. “CENTCOM forces continue to provide safe passage coordination and support to commercial vessels transiting the strait,” the statement added.
US Central Command has confirmed it conducted strikes against Iranian missile and drone storage sites, as well as coastal radar positions. The US described the action as a response to “unwarranted aggression against commercial shipping by Iranian forces” that it said “clearly violated the ceasefire”.
The US operation followed what President Donald Trump described as an Iranian drone strike on a commercial vessel in the Strait of Hormuz, calling it a “foolish violation of our ceasefire agreement.” Vice President JD Vance issued a warning on social media, stating, “violence will be met with violence” if Iran carries out further attacks.
In Iran, an explosion was reported late on Friday at Taherouyeh pier in the southern port city of Sirik. A military source cited by Iranian state television said the blast was caused by a projectile impact.
Following the US strikes, Iran’s Revolutionary Guards stated they had targeted US sites in the Gulf region and warned, “If the aggression is repeated, our response will be broader than this.”
The exchange of fire has raised concerns about a fragile ceasefire and ongoing diplomatic efforts to negotiate a settlement to the conflict, which reportedly began on February 28 with US and Israeli strikes on Iran. The United Nations maritime agency reported that an evacuation operation, which had freed 115 vessels and 2,500 seafarers trapped by the dispute, was suspended following the attack on the commercial ship.
