Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi arrived in Oman on Saturday, July 11, 2026, for high-level discussions concerning the Strait of Hormuz. The talks aim to ensure safe maritime navigation through the strategically important waterway, with Tehran and Muscat engaged in consultations over the past two months. Iranian officials have consistently asserted the country’s sovereign right to manage and safeguard the security of this vital shipping route. The visit is part of ongoing regional efforts to maintain stability and prevent further escalation in the Gulf.
Separately, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei stated that Iran’s armed forces are on high alert, closely monitoring potential security threats. He added that military units along Iran’s coastlines, islands, border regions, and other strategic locations are maintaining constant surveillance to safeguard territorial integrity and national security, and are prepared to respond to developments while preserving regional stability.
Meanwhile, Pakistan urged all parties to honor their commitments under the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), describing it as a key framework for promoting mutual understanding, peaceful coexistence, and long-term regional stability. This statement was made by Pakistan’s Permanent Representative, Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, at the United Nations.
