IHC suspends 50% extra toll tax on vehicles without M-Tag
The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has suspended a notification from the National Highway Authority (NHA) that imposed an additional 50 percent toll charge on vehicles without an active M-Tag or with an insufficient balance.
Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir issued the written order after hearing a petition filed by Advocate Jalal Haider. The petitioner argued that the NHA does not have the legal authority to impose such a surcharge.
The court has directed the NHA to stop collecting the extra toll fee until further instructions. Notices have been issued to the NHA and other relevant parties, instructing them to submit written responses by August 3.
