Court Admits Bail Plea of Accused in Hina Javed Murder Case

A court in Rawalpindi has admitted for hearing the bail application of Zeeshan Arshad, an accused arrested in the murder case of digital media executive Hina Javed. Additional District and Sessions Judge Naseer Ahmed scheduled further proceedings on the bail plea for September 19 and issued notices to the complainant party and the relevant station house officer (SHO).

During the hearing, the court expressed displeasure over the filing of two separate bail applications for the same accused by different lawyers. The judge sought an explanation from Adiala Jail authorities on how two separate powers of attorney for the same prisoner could have been biometrically verified.

The family of Hina Javed has raised concerns that her brother-in-law, Fiaz, who is named in the FIR, has not yet been arrested. This comes as post-mortem photographs have emerged reportedly showing severe injury marks on Hina's hands, elbows, face, and jaw.

The family reiterated their claims of interference in the investigation by Kamil Asghar, the brother of the main accused, stating they have voice notes as evidence. An initial post-mortem report had previously established that Hina Javed was severely tortured and her neck bone was broken.

The letter, written by her brother Fahad Javed, claims the family has proof, including voice notes, that the main accused's brother colluded with police. It alleges that soon after the crime, he "cleaned out the accused’s room and the murder weapons, tampered with the evidence, phone logs, messages and texts, and set the stage to plan and place the blame on the servant."

The family also stated they met with investigating police officials on September 4 to discuss what they termed "flaws in the investigation" and its deviation from the initial FIR, asserting that responsibility was being unfairly shifted from Hina's husband to their domestic worker.

It mentions a detailed meeting on September 4 at the Police Lines where the family expressed their reservations to senior police officials, including DIG Investigation Lahore Asim Mushtaq Sukhera and SSP Operations Tariq Mehboob.
