Widespread Monsoon Rains Continue Across Pakistan

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a detailed forecast for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, predicting widespread rain-wind/thundershowers with isolated heavy downpours through Wednesday, with occasional breaks. The forecast applies to Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Malakand, Shangla, Battagram, Buner, Khyber, Bajaur, Mohmand, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Mardan, Swabi, Nowshera, Peshawar, Hangu, Orakzai, Karak, Kurram, and Kohat.

Daytime temperatures in Peshawar are expected to remain between 34°C and 36°C on Tuesday and 35°C to 37°C on Wednesday. Over the last 24 hours, rainfall was recorded in Kakul (16mm), Malam Jabba (4mm), and Balakot (3mm).

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has expanded its weather warnings as monsoon rains are forecast to continue for the next two days with occasional breaks. The risk of urban flooding has been extended to include Mardan, Swabi, Peshawar, and Nowshera, in addition to previously mentioned cities.

Furthermore, landslide warnings have been issued for hilly areas in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Murree, Galiyat, and Kashmir. The PMD also provided a specific temperature forecast for Islamabad and Rawalpindi, expecting daytime temperatures to be between 27°C and 29°C on Tuesday and 28°C to 30°C on Wednesday.

Updated rainfall figures from the last 24 hours show widespread precipitation. Significant measurements include Jhelum (24mm), Kotli (34mm), Kakul (16mm), and Zhob (7mm), alongside heavy falls in the Islamabad-Rawalpindi region.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast that intermittent monsoon rains with isolated heavy downpours will continue in Lahore and other parts of Punjab on Monday night, Tuesday, and Wednesday. The weather system is attributed to monsoon currents penetrating the upper parts of Pakistan, along with a westerly wave.

The PMD has warned that the downpours may cause urban flooding in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Sialkot, and Lahore. Widespread rains could also lead to flash flooding in local nullahs of Islamabad and Rawalpindi, while landslides may occur in Murree and the Galiyat region.

Over the past 24 hours, significant rainfall was recorded in several areas, including Islamabad (Golra 146mm, Bokra 138mm) and Rawalpindi (Pirwidahi 107mm, Chaklala 74mm).
