Speaking at a National Dialogue Committee seminar in Lahore, former Punjab Governor Chaudhry Sarwar attributed the success of Pakistan’s mediation in the US-Iran talks to the efforts of the Field Marshal (COAS). He also raised an alarm over regional water security, stating that India has reportedly threatened to completely cut off Pakistan’s water supply within two years, a move he warned would devastate the country’s agriculture.

Also speaking at the event, politician Mehmood Moulvi suggested that some elements within the PTI are benefiting from the current political confrontation. The seminar was the same venue where PTI’s Imran Ismail reiterated his party’s willingness to talk while questioning the prime minister’s authority.

Responding to the government’s outreach, senior PTI leader and former Sindh governor Imran Ismail has publicly stated that his party is willing to engage in dialogue. “Mistakes were made by the PTI founder, but we can sit and talk,” he said at a seminar, while adding that he believes Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif lacks the authority to negotiate.

Meanwhile, Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Tariq Fazal Chaudhry confirmed the government’s readiness for talks, stating that the opposition can decide the venue. He said the Prime Minister had twice approached the opposition benches with an invitation to negotiate, emphasizing that the path to national peace and progress lies through parliament.
