A new Chief Minister for Gilgit-Baltistan has been announced following the formation of the government. The decision regarding who will form the government in Gilgit-Baltistan has finally been made.

Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari has named Advocate Amjad Hussain as the party’s nominee for Gilgit-Baltistan’s chief minister. The decision follows a power-sharing agreement with the PML-N, which will be allocated the governor’s position and the slot of opposition leader in return for its support.

Hussain, the PPP’s Gilgit-Baltistan president since 2016, recently won his seat from constituency GBA-I. The party chairman reportedly directed Hussain to focus on forming the new government and ensuring the constitutional and economic rights of the region’s people.
