Polling for the Gilgit-Baltistan Legislative Assembly is set for Sunday after a four-month delay due to harsh winter weather. All arrangements are complete for the election across 24 constituencies, where 396 candidates, including 266 independents, will contest. A total of 958,480 registered voters are eligible to cast their ballots between 8 am and 5 pm.

The GB Chief Election Commissioner has granted magistrate powers to returning officers to ensure a peaceful and transparent process. Meanwhile, the caretaker government has urged citizens to participate actively in the electoral process, calling it a national duty essential for the region’s development and the strengthening of democracy.
