FIA Suspends Officers for Assaulting Citizen During Karachi Raid

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has suspended two officers and launched an inquiry following accusations they assaulted a citizen during a raid on a jeweler’s shop in Karachi’s Sarafa Bazaar. In addition to the suspensions, the agency has taken action against several of its officials in connection with the incident. An Assistant Director has been transferred, and the in-charge of the FIA’s Anti-Corruption Circle has been removed from his post pending the outcome of the investigation.

The agency’s action was prompted after other traders at the Saddar Sarafa Bazar protested and surrounded the FIA team, who allegedly tortured the shop’s owner. An inquiry into the matter has been initiated involving a Deputy Director and an Assistant Director.
