Security forces killed eight terrorists in two separate intelligence-based operations in the Kharan and Mastung districts of Balochistan, the military’s media wing announced on Saturday.

In a statement, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said the operations were conducted on June 25 and June 26 as part of an ongoing counter-terrorism campaign.

The first operation occurred on June 25 in the Kharan district after security forces detected the movement of a terrorist group. According to the ISPR, three terrorists were killed and several others were injured in the engagement.

On June 26, a pre-emptive operation was launched in the Mastung district based on intelligence about the possible presence of a suicide bomber. An intense exchange of fire resulted in the neutralisation of five terrorists, including the suspected suicide bomber, the statement said.

Authorities recovered weapons, ammunition, improvised explosive devices, and motorbikes from the locations.

The ISPR added that sanitisation operations are being conducted in the area. It affirmed that the counter-terrorism campaign, under the ‘Azm e Istehkam’ initiative, will continue at full pace to eliminate foreign-sponsored terrorism from the country.
