Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Prime Minister Iftikhar Gillani has constituted an eight-member cabinet, appointing seven directly elected and one indirectly elected lawmaker as ministers without portfolios.
The new ministers, whose portfolios were not immediately announced, include Raja Saqib Majeed, Dr Mustafa Bashir Abbasi, Sardar Mir Akbar, Raja Riasat, Raja Umair Naeem, Waqar Noor, Chaudhry Azhar Sadiq, and Chaudhry Abdul Rehman Arain. Mr Arain was elected on a reserved seat for overseas Kashmiris.
According to reports, several senior parliamentarians, including the only woman to have won a territorial constituency in three direct elections, were not inducted into the cabinet. No advisers or special assistants were appointed.
