Eid Rush Causes Chaos at Punjab Bus Terminals Amid Overcharging Complaints

LAHORE – Intercity bus terminals across Punjab are experiencing severe congestion and long delays as a large number of people head to their hometowns for Eid ul Azha.

Travelers at major terminals in Lahore and Rawalpindi have reported overcrowding and poor crowd management, with many families waiting for hours to find transport. Passengers have also lodged numerous complaints against transport operators for charging fares well above the approved rates and for overloading vehicles.

Those heading to cities in southern Punjab and Sindh, including Multan, Muzaffargarh, and Layyah, have been particularly affected. At Rawalpindi’s Pirwadhai bus terminal, some passengers said they had been waiting since early morning despite purchasing expensive tickets.

Transport operators have cited rising fuel prices and increased operational costs as reasons for the disruptions. While authorities including the Motorway Police and Regional Transport Authority are reportedly taking action against violators, passengers are calling for more effective measures to ensure smooth and affordable travel.
