Court Reviews Anmol Pinky Drug Case and Protocol Investigation Updates

A city court is hearing a review plea challenging the grant of physical remand for Anmol, also known as Pinky, in a drug case. Pinky’s lawyers challenged the remand, and in a major development, a court declared previous remand decisions null and void and issued a new order. Earlier, a physical remand had been approved after she was presented in the Judicial Magistrate South Court. More cases have now been registered against her.

A Deputy Public Prosecutor has been served a notice in connection with the physical remand case. During one hearing, journalists were barred from attending the court proceedings. Barrister Waqas Abraiz has revealed what were described as shocking legal aspects of the case.

Separately, an investigation report into the official protocol provided to Pinky during a court appearance has been completed. As a result of the protocol incident, SSP City Ali Hassan was removed from his post. Officials have also been detained over providing the protocol. The Karachi Police Chief has briefed a committee on the Anmol Pinky case.

The wider investigation has reportedly revealed powerful connections and includes a report on online drug sales. A major crackdown against an alleged drug network has been launched following Pinky’s arrest. The case has also been linked to details in the deepening mystery surrounding an MNA’s child’s death. Meanwhile, the process to transfer Anmol Pinky to Lahore has begun.
